Well it is just about time for the Gators season to begin.  For those of you who are unfamiliar with me, the Gators are the men's team that I play for.  Initially the team struggled to get even five wins a year but over my four and going on five years we have added new players and have gotten a competitive level.

This takes me to this upcoming season.  Last year I experienced the most successful season I had to date.  I pitched very well and had improved control combined with more consistent breaking pitches.  The upcoming season has presented me with a new set of goals and challenges.

I have spent the extra long off-season of a men's league (from about August until late March) trying various different training methods ranging from sprinting daily to squatting to my current kick, running stairs.  While doing this, I have been able to throw much more than usual due to the mild winter in Maryland this year.

This takes me to my goals and objectives for this season.

1)  Replicate my success with my command and off-speed pitches.
2)  I have tinkering with my delivery to get more explosion and full body torque in my delivery, as well as add some deception.  I would like to be able to implement this delivery into game situations with the same consistency that I experienced last season.
3)  Last season, I was able to consistently work the outside part of the plate but I struggled to work inside.  This season, I would like to work my fastball consistently to both sides.

I am not sure that anyone will read this blog but I will be chronicling my starts during this Gator season, in addition to various other musings about pitching and anything else that might cross my mind.

PS  I throughly enjoyed watching Johan Santana pitch masterfully this evening.
PSS Dylan Bundy is unreal.
